Organising the Wales Menopause Network 2024 Conference in Swansea

The countdown is on! We are just a few weeks away from the 3rd Annual Wales Menopause Network Conference, which will take place on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at the magnificent Brangwyn Hall in Swansea. The excitement is building as we prepare for what promises to be another incredible event focused on improving menopause care in Wales.

The Journey So Far

Planning this year’s conference has been a labor of love. We began the process back in early January, carefully crafting an agenda that not only reflects the latest developments in menopause research but also provides practical insights for healthcare professionals across Wales. After months of dedication, we are thrilled to be in the final stages of preparation.

One of the most rewarding aspects of organising the conference has been securing such high-caliber speakers. Their expertise will bring fresh perspectives and valuable knowledge to our attendees, making this year’s event one of our best yet.

Hosting the Conference in Swansea

We are particularly excited to host the conference in the beautiful city of Swansea, known for its stunning coastal views and cultural richness. Often referred to as Wales’ Waterfront City, Swansea combines the charm of seaside living with a vibrant urban energy that makes it the perfect setting for our event.

Our venue, Brangwyn Hall, is an architectural gem. With its Grade II listed status and iconic Empire panels by Sir Frank Brangwyn, it offers a striking and inspiring environment for learning and collaboration. Whether you’re a returning delegate or attending for the first time, Swansea’s warm and welcoming atmosphere will ensure a memorable experience.

Exciting Speaker Line-Up

One of the things we are most proud of this year is our line-up of distinguished speakers, each bringing unique insights into various aspects of menopause care:

  • Rachel Hubbard, an exercise and menopause coach, will share her expertise on tailored exercise programs and strategies for living well through menopause. Her approach to incorporating exercise as a key aspect of menopause management is sure to inspire many.
  • Mr. Ihab Abbasi, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Glangwili Hospital, will discuss a crucial issue many face during hormone replacement therapy (HRT): unscheduled bleeding.
  • Katherine Gale, Nurse Consultant and former Chair of the Royal College of Nursing, will present her findings on The Working Lives of Menopausal Women, providing insights into how menopause impacts women in the workplace.
  • Dr. Amiee Grant, Senior Lecturer and Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow at Swansea University, will discuss the important but often overlooked topic of Menopause and Autism.
  • Professor Peter Barrett-Lee, Consultant Oncologist and Professor of Breast Cancer Studies, will cover the relationship between menopause and breast cancer, shedding light on how this life stage can impact cancer care.
  • Nigel Denby, an award-winning registered dietician and founder of Harley Street at Home, will offer practical advice on nutrition for menopause. His session will focus on encouraging women to stop dieting and instead develop a sustainable and healthful approach to eating during menopause.

Final Preparations

As we enter the final stretch, the excitement is palpable. Our team is working hard to ensure that every detail, from the speaker schedule to delegate materials, is perfect. We’re confident that this conference will be a day of education, inspiration, and meaningful discussions that will have a lasting impact on menopause care in Wales.
